Embedded Software Engineer
Hours: Full-Time (9:00-5:30 M-F)
Salary: Commensurate with experience
The Embedded Software Engineer position designs, develops, evaluates, debugs, and implements embedded firmware to support product lines. This includes supporting existing designs as well as leading the development of embedded code for new product designs.
The knowledge and understanding required of this position includes:
- Embedded programming experience (minimum 5 years) with experience integrating hardware and software.
- Excellent C/C++ and Assembly language programming experience.
- Detailed understanding of programming in multi-threaded and real time systems.
- Excellent debugging skills including familiarity with hardware/software interaction in embedded systems.
- Experience creating bi-directional interfaces for basic I/O protocols, such as RS-232, RS-484, USB, and Ethernet.
- Signal analysis and methods such as Kalman filtering, FFT, and DFT.
- Fixed and floating point DSP hardware and algorithms.
- A general understanding of physics and translational and rotational kinematics a big plus.

Buyer/Inventory Analyst
Hours: Full-Time (9:00-5:30 M-F)
Salary: Commensurate with experience
Summit Instruments is seeking an individual that has hands on experience with material requirements planning, sourcing and purchasing electronic materials, evaluating and analyzing inventory, and coordinating the logistics of product shipments.
The duties of this position include the following:
- Manage inventory according to order volumes and sales forecasts to support production processes. Ensure flow of inventory to support sales by placing/adjusting orders, monitoring order status for on time delivery and proactively identifying issues.
- Maintain communication with vendors and agents regarding purchasing lead times, current purchase order status, shipping and delivery issues.
- Source components, alternate suppliers, provide RFQ’s and qualify new vendors based on competitive pricing, quality, and delivery.
- Receive inventory shipments, verify quantity, inspect and resolve all receiving discrepancies.
- Maintain MRP databases to ensure proper lead times, manufacturing routings, and accurate bills of materials in conjunction with the product engineers. Be the primary contact for maintaining MRP database accuracy.
- Plan transition strategy at the item level, to include planning of sell thru and exit strategy for redesigned goods and new product releases.
- Maintain all required communication to support the product ordering/receiving process.
- Coordinate and develop logistics and strategies for material purchases. Establish reorder points and minimum inventory levels.
- Negotiate pricing and payment terms for components and finished goods.
- Conduct inventory audits and year end inventory counts.
The ideal candidate will have the following attributes:
- Must have 5+ years experience in sourcing and purchasing electronic products and components.
- Analytical mindset and proven experience in inventory control and purchasing activities.
- Computer literate and working knowledge of manufacturing MRP systems (Syspro ERP experience a plus).
- Strong verbal capabilities to effectively communicate with all levels of staff, vendors, and contracted manufacturers.
